I am able to connect Wi-Fi on my 12 year old XP laptop with no problems using this router. I also have another rarely used XP desktop computer about 10 years old and use a wireless USB adapter to connect to Wi-Fi with no problems using this router. So if it works on my 12 year old XP laptop it should work on a 5 year old computer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.if your desktop is wired to internet, unplug that cable and plug it into the router. Use another data cord to go from the router to the desktop. If the laptop is 3 yrs old it should be WiFi ready. Bring it to Best-buy and ask, they can see it and answer questions and get you what you need. They are very helpful!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.yes, you should be able to use both devices with the netgear router so long as they both either a physical or wireless adapter to connect to the router. Also for them to talk to each other they would need to be on the same network using similar protocols that create a genuine handshake between the two operating systems.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.this will work on a windows xp desktop all you need to do is connect a ethernet cable from desktop to router and to connect your laptop you just connect using the wifi. you connect the router to your cable modem and have your pc connected to router via cat5 (Ethernet cable).
