• I have the downloaded Mario Kart and had no issues with the lack internet to play it.

• Once downloaded you basically own the game, so you can play it without being connected to the internet as long as you have enough storage. If the download gets erased you can recover it via your Nintendo profile.

• The download can only be played without internet if the game is saved to the system. Yes, you can redownload the game if it gets erased as long as you're signed into the same Nintendo account you purchased it from
