If you are a Mario fan then you will love this. I had never played this on Wii U so it was the first time playing it. I did not want to play Super Mario Odyssey because it was to 4D for me.
You can play as Luigi, Toad, Mario, Toadette and Nabbit in this game. Some levels are tricky and others are really difficult, but it has the nifty helper feature where if you attempt the level enough times then it allows you to hit the green box then Luigi will guide you through the entire level which is a great.
I bought this as a gift for my wife, so that we could play it with friends. Having been a player of Mario bros games since the original Super Mario Bros 1, 2 and 3 on the NES, it’s neat to see how they’ve expanded over time. I played the Wii version of this game years ago with my nieces and nephews, and remembered the 4-player experience to be great. Now the new deluxe version adds two additional playable characters: Nabbit and Toadette, who are much easier for newer players or folks that aren’t as quite experienced. Nabbit isn’t harmed by enemies and only dies by falling off screen or by hot lava or poison water. But, he also cannot use any of the power-ups. However, any power-ups he collects turn into 1-ups at the end of the level. So whoever plays as Nabbit builds extra lives quickly.
Toadette is also “easier” to play as, she can jump pretty high, and she has a special crown power-up that turns her into princess peach, where she gets more abilities. Great character for little girls who are new to the game.
Highly recommend this. A great family title.
I would recommend this to a friend

It is delightful experience bringing back Mario in this deluxe version. I can reflect back on when I was younger playing the original Nintendo with super Mario one and three. The game brings back some of the of the original concepts, yet does a great job expanding on them, creating a wonderful adventure.
A:AnswerThere are some, but only small differences. One being that it includes both games, Super Mario Bros. U and Super Luigi U. Another being Toadette is now a playable character, and Nabbit is playable in both Super Mario Bros U and Super Luigi U. I think thats mostly it.
A:AnswerIt either means they halted sales due to they hit some limit (silly) for the MAR10 promo, or it is further confusion around which retailers are offering what for the MAR10 promos. Nintendo should have just handled the digital sales for this game for this promo through their own eShop.
A:AnswerIf you’re looking for some light-hearted fun that’s easy for everyone, I recommend Super Mario Party, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Donkey King Country: Tropical Freeze, and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. If you’re looking for something a little more strategized, I HIGHLY recommend Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle.
