QuestionDoes this need WiFi? I don’t have real good internet will this still work

- Answer My upload speed is >.80 mbps. It still works fine. I can see my cameras real time. A little lag from time to time. But it does work were most do not. Arlo and the likes won’t even come close to working on my internet speeds. It records and plays back great from the nvr Just wire it into your tv and you can swap inputs to look at all your cameras. Ac cameras keep the real time pic up. The battery operated only turn on when motion or you tell it to via the app or the nvr.

QuestionDo i have to have Wi Fi to set up or actually utilize this system? I just want a good wireless system with a DVR to use on my cabin that will never have any Wi Fi capability. If so, I will order this.

- Answer No but! If you want to see what's going on in your home while away or to record you will need wifi, I do think it is a way to do this other wise, call their support line and be certain. I love it

QuestionDo you need to have internet access to initially set up this system?

- Answer It sounds to me, from previous questions here, that you must be able to have a monitor/tv available for viewing, during the initial setup, in order to set up a user name, and password. It would therefore seem logical to me, to have the system NVR able to access internet, in order to register the user name and password...... BUT, I haven't purchased a system yet, so this is guesswork. I would also like to know if the system will operate totally internet free, as our internet provider is very flaky, and/or very slow. I understand this would mean no remote access.

- Answer Cameras are wireless to the DVR. The wireless connection uses it own wireless connection to the DVR. Only the DVR needs to be connected to the internet for remote viewing, cell phone etc. You can hear and speak via the camera if you need to to. Very satisfied with the system, easy to set up and video is crisp and clear.

- Answer The cameras can be up to 300 ft. from the Wi-Fi NVR with line of sight. If there are obstacles in between the cameras and Wi-Fi NVR, it would depend on what the obstacles are. Some more heavily affect the signal strength than do others. For instance, a concrete or brick wall will more severely impede the signal strength than will drywall or a window. So, unfortunately, the answer is it depends entirely on your setup and what type of material is between the cameras and Wi-Fi NVR how far out the cameras can be mounted. We do sell a Wi-Fi Extender Antenna to help bypass obstacles if you run into a situation. Just visit our sales site and search for model # A-WNVR2-WFEXT. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!

When installing the cameras outside, we recommend placing them under some type of minimal protection such as an eave or awning. The cameras are weather-resistant, not waterproof (meaning they cannot be submerged under water). If they are overexposed to the elements it will reduce their lifespan. - Answer Yes, but the sound clarity on the actual camera isn’t very good. So when on my app talking to my husband outside, he said he had a hard time understanding what I was saying, but I heard him clearly on my phone.
