Can I hook speaker wires to this receiver null

Hello Tom. Yes, the TXSR494 does have the ability of connecting your speakers via physical wires. On the rear of the receiver on the right side you have the spring clips (center, rear and heights) and circular binding post(front left and right). Thank you Onkyo

Yes, I believe thats the only way to connect speakers. I dont think they have wireless. It does have bluetooth, But you cant choose to connect to a device with it, For example:you have to use your phone or PC bluetooth and connect to it. The stereo itself cannot "connect" to a speaker thats "ready to pair", If that makes sense.
