Hello RC You have the ability to connect either a 5.2 or 7.2 channels depending on how many speakers you are wanting to connect to the main room. Or if you are planning to hook a second room, which would be Zone B. Then the main room would 5.2 and the surround back/Heights terminals is what you would use for Zone B. Thank you Onkyo
