Hello Justme, The TXSR494 technically supports the power subwoofer providing the subwoofer pre out on the back of the receiver. However, it all depends on the passive subwoofer design in order to use the speaker post on the receiver. If the passive subwoofer has a set of four speaker terminals that would show from amplifier (+/- terminal)to speakers(+/- terminal).The connection would: the front speaker terminals to the subwoofer, then front speaker. Now, if there is just a single +/- terminal on the passive subwoofer, for this to work you would have to get a dedicated amp to power that subwoofer. Then use the subwoofer pre out on the receiver to send a signal to subwoofer. Thank you Onkyo
