Q: QuestionDo you need active or passive subwoofer
Asked by Justme.
- A:Answer Hello Justme, The TXSR494 technically supports the power subwoofer providing the subwoofer pre out on the back of the receiver. However, it all depends on the passive subwoofer design in order to use the speaker post on the receiver. If the passive subwoofer has a set of four speaker terminals that would show from amplifier (+/- terminal)to speakers(+/- terminal). The connection would: the front speaker terminals to the subwoofer, then front speaker. Now, if there is just a single +/- terminal on the passive subwoofer, for this to work you would have to get a dedicated amp to power that subwoofer. Then use the subwoofer pre out on the receiver to send a signal to subwoofer. Thank you Onkyo

Q: QuestionAm I able to connect phonograph, CD player and tape player to this device? AM/FM radio accessible? Will this device allow me to use Bluetooth to connect speakers in another room? If no,which device you sell would do all of the above?
Asked by Eyepatch.
- A:Answer As to the phonograph, you cannot directly connect one that REQUIRES A PREAMP to the unit. For those that do need a preamp, you would have to buy that separately. You can connect a total of FOUR audio inputs, such as a tape player, second radio, CD player, phonograph with built-in preamp, etc., counting the digital coaxial connector, which is mean for a CD player, but could be used for something else. Just about anything that has RCA connectors or can be adapted with them. In addition, there are FOUR HDMI inputs, which can be used for a game playing unit, such as an Xbox, a Blu-ray or DVD player, a cable box or satellite receiver, and even a separate streaming box. The Bluetooth question has ALREADY been answered. New invention: "reading," I think it's called. Try it sometime. Although most of you questions could be answered by the illiterate as well.
