QuestionDo i need a parking brake bypass ?
Asked 6 years ago by jonny5.
- Answer If you want to avoid having to be in Park to access the settings, just crimp the parking brake wire (color codes included) to your 12V switched from your ignition. The receiver will think you're always in park, and all settings will be accessible.

Asked 6 years ago by 54pack.

QuestionWhy would a radio that cost $109 with free installation and up costing $270 why do I need all the extra stuff
Asked 7 years ago by George.
This question was asked about the related product: PAC - Radio Replacement and Steering Wheel Control Interface with OnStar Retention for Select GM Vehicles - Black/Blue
- Answer Well, you probably don't if you're putting in a $100 radio. This retains all factory controls on the steering wheel and other interfaces. I only bought it because I had to for the free installation. They will only use Best Buy stock for their installations. If you have to buy it, price match it. I did, at the time Crutchfield was $30+ less. But if you are planning to install yourself there are equally capable interface cables for less than half that amout.

QuestionWill this retain vehicles personalization settings in 2014 Chevy Silverado after installing an aftermarket radio? Thank you
Asked 3 years ago by Desi.
This question was asked about the related product: PAC - Radio Replacement and Steering Wheel Control Interface with OnStar Retention for Select GM Vehicles - Blue
- Answer Any settings done in the factory radio will be retained after replacing it with the RP5-GM51 and your aftermarket radio. However, if you wish to modify the personal settings you would either need to reinstall the factory radio to do so, or purchase the PAC-UP interface updater and leave it connected in the truck, and use a laptop with the PAC-Audio Vehicle Settings App to change them

QuestionDo I need this even if I do not have steering wheel controls and onstar in my 2004 Silverado?
Asked 4 years ago by Hello12346.
This question was asked about the related product: PAC - Radio Replacement and Steering Wheel Control Interface with OnStar Retention for Select GM Vehicles - Black/Blue
- Answer The interface is required to provide accessory power for the aftermarket radio, which is not in the factory harness. It is also required to maintain the integrity of the Class2 data bus in the truck, which it also gets its signal to provide the accessory power for the aftermarket radio, even in vehicles without OnStar or steering wheel controls
