I haven't found this yet, but it should be configurable. This is the one UI nuisance I've found, albeit a minor one. The player seems to resume quickly from where you left off when the unit powers down.

My Panasonic 820 pauses and shuts off. However, pressing "Play" wakes up the unit and it plays from the point of disc pause. I know of no way to defeat the disc shut down. That said, it will pause streaming video indefinitely.
