I know that the UB-820 player uses a different remote than the UB-9000 so I believe it shouldn't be an issue unless somehow they are backwards compatible.

Hello! When other Panasonic devices respond to the remote control of the unit, you can change the remote control code to avoid conflicts between devices. You can do so by accessing the Home menu - System - Remote control code. Hope this helps! -C
