“Is the AC power cord supply cord supposed to plug into the "AC IN" space easily? I am struggling to plug it into the back of the Blu Ray Player. I am scared to apply force because I worry it might damage the device.”

You do have to apply some force but it shouldn't be anything crazy as far as you feel like you're having to put a ton of muscle into it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.My unit wasn't difficult but it's not an unusual problem. You can try rotating the cord, making sure the alignment is perfect or plugging it in slowly, but ultimately, you may have to give it a little oomph.
