Yes, it has hdmi and will work, but will obviously only display in the max resolution for your tv. When you buy the new tv make sure it supports Dolby Vision and HDR10 to take advantage of the new hdr formats.

You can set the brightness tone mapping to match your older TVs capabilities and if it isn't HDR you can have the UB820 tone down to non-hdr. Then when you get your new TV you'll have the best 4K player available already and all you'll have to do is change the settings to match your new TV.
