Does anyone know why I get the menu in upper right corner of screen when pausing or playing 4k disc that has the 3 lines, "Ultra HD Blu-ray, Pause, 4K"?...no option to select, just a pop-up and hoping it defaults to 4K for these 4k discs! null

It's not a menu. It's just a disc-specific status readout. It's not meant to be selected. It's just telling you the type of disc, current action, and resolution. Based on what you wrote, it's definitely playing in 4K.

Think of it in terms of a pop-up notification on your phone that leaves after a few seconds.
