I have two cats and have never had an issue. The unit is supplied power through a USB cord that you would plug into an adapter or USB port in an outlet. If you overfill the fountain it could result in water at the outer base of the unit. I have had this fountain for over 6 months and a different on prior and never had an issue, but if you have a pet that might chew the cord then that could cause an electrocution, but that could happen with any electric cord that they could have access to.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The wire is channeled down a slot in the back and does not contact the water.
