“In March I bought the Philips hue second gen startup kit along with the the 2 year replacement plan. Now that the 3rd Gen is out will I be able to replace my second gen for the third? I was told by an employee at the store that I would be able to do that”

No, the replacement plan isn't for upgrading to the newer version, its incase it breaks.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If there is nothing wrong with your 2nd Gen they will not upgrade you to the 3rd Gen. If you had a problem with the 2nd Gen then you can bring it in and they will tell you your options. They may repair it or exchange to the 3rd Gen but they will compare them to see if there is a price differences which you might end up paying or get money back. Good Luck.
