Nope, you screw it in, make sure your light switch stays on so it receives power. Press your button on the bridge when the app tells you to so it can find it in your network and then you're good to go. 5 min setup most!

Just be sure to have power on to the light fixture. Experienced a power outage to our home. When power was restored all Hue lights rebooted and were turned on. Fortunately one switch on the app can turn all lights off. Power has to be always on for each fixture.

If you are using the Hue Bridge, you will need to download the Hue app, turn on the bulbs, and connect the Hue bridge to the router. Once connected the Hue bridge will search for the bulbs.The Hue app will walk you through the process. If there is a problem you can scan or the manually enter the bulb number (six digits on the packaging). Label each bulb or group the bulbs as needed. The set up will need to be repeated in the Home App as well. Once completed you are good to go.

You need the Hue bridge, so I would look for a starter kit if I were you. The bridge connects all the bulbs over wifi and then you can control them via an app or other Hue accessories like the Tap switch, etc.
