It depends on the color of the translucent cover and how much light it blocks. If you use matte or milk-white Plexiglas for the cover, the loss is minimal and the color shift negligible. Most of the time, my Hue lights are not at full power so if there was light loss, it could be compensated by setting the brightness a bit higher. Be sure to provide sufficient ventilation in the enclosure. While LED lights run a lot cooler that incandescent lights, the electronics still emit a certain amount of heat. Overvoltage and heat are the biggest factors in shortening the life of modern LED lights like the Philips Hue.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If it is slight, does it matter? You can set it to any brigjtness you want. All my bulbs have shades so what is it without? Its a nulb that works with the phone software. I even use the white bulbs that work great.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Any cover will decrease the brightness slightly. But if they are clear you shouldn't have any issues
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Depends on the translucency of the cover
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't have any of my Hue bulbs under translucent covers, but having some lighting experience, I'll answer this in a general sense. A translucent cover will likely reduce the brightness. It may or may not change the color. With that said, the average person might not even notice the difference.
