“I would like my default setup to be music through usb from an iphon 5 i had & just use as an ipod. Id also like my iPhone 8 on my hip to automatically connect by Bluetooth for phone calls only. It seems that the unit will only connect to one at a time.”

Hey that is correct. But what u can do is transfer your music from iPhone to a memory card. Use the memory card for music and allow ur phone to be hooked up using Apple play
