“Can the extra buttons be ramapped on steam to any keyboard key I want? It seems pointless to only be able to remap the buttons to already existing buttons on the front.”

No it’s only for the current controller buttons. Like you can put the a button to the back bumper to make jumping easier and that kinda thing
