“I just got the ring doorbell and tried to connect it wired instead of battery, turns out my chime is not compatible! Will this fix the issue? Any other suggestions? I’m not very handy in this department”

No you would need to buy the ring doorbell pro which is for a wired installation. It would use your current doorbells wiring system to power it.
