“My led lights are backlit red when not on is this normal or needed for the night vision?”

• Infrared LEDs have a faint red glow when they're on. That's what you're seeing are the infrared (night vision) LEDs. You'll notice in early morning the colors will be off for objects, for example, reds bricks look blue, blue levis jeans look orangish. This is the camera mixing infrared colors with normal colors.
