A:AnswerHi Spark,
Thanks for reaching out.
You should be able to mount your Ring Video Doorbell by yourself weather you choose to hardwire it to you pre-existing doorbell, or go with the battery operated version. If you hardwire your Ring Video Doorbell to your pre-existing doorbell you should be able to hear your original doorbell chime throughout your home when someone rings the bell. If you, however, go with the battery operated version, you will only hear your doorbell chime through the Ring app from the device that you are monitoring it on.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to email me at [email protected].
Thanks,

A:AnswerHi Kee,
Great question.
Ring Video Doorbell is compatible with 802.11 b/g/n WiFi networks operating on 2.4 gHz frequencies. Ring recommends WPA2 Wi-Fi security. Additionally, for best streaming performance, we recommend 1 Mbps upload and download speeds but 2 Mbps is recommended for optimal performance.
Thanks!

A:AnswerNo. You can use the ring doorbell with or without an existing doorbell. If you do not have a doorbell, it simply attaches to your desired wall location via the instructions and can be connected to your WiFi network. The total install/setup is under 30 mins. You will have to charge it about every couple of months depending on the use. If you have a doorbell. The install will take a little longer but you will never have to charge the unit. The ring provided installation instructions are really simple to follow for how to wire the unit up at the ring doorbell and at your physical doorbell in your home.
