  • QuestionIf I buy this ring doorbell can I put it up without any wires and just use a battery I have a home that does not have any doorbell wire and hook up so I need a Ring doorbell that only operates on a rechargeable battery

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Hello, Yes. The Ring Video Doorbell(2020) is a battery powered unit and does not require existing wiring in order to function. The Ring Video Doorbell (2020 release) is compatible with AC-powered door chimes operating between 8-24 volt AC transformers, but is not compatible with wireless door chimes or any chime/intercom system using a DC transformer. • QuestionHow do you charge the battery

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer I was concerned about the battery life as I could not use our existing doorbell power. My concerns were unwarranted - as long as I take the time to charge, it does very well. :) Depending on the model, you charge just like a cell phone. Plug in to a USB adapter and wait a few hours. I have one where you have to pop the battery out and another that you plug in the entire doorbell. Be sure and use the cable that comes with the device - for me they seem to be slightly different than a typical USB plug-in. If the device is set to use low power consumption then a single charge lasts 30 to 60 days.

  • QuestionDo you need wi-fi for this to connect to your phone? Or is this device bluetooth? How much is the yearly subscription? Can you add more security devices later, example more cameras?

    Asked by JodyG.

    • Answer Hello JodyG, Great question. Yes, wifi is needed on your mobile device and also in your home for the Ring Video Doorbell to work as intended. You can also add multiple Ring devices to your Ring App at any time. Ring gives a complimentary 30-day trial with each new Ring device. After 30 days, you can choose if you would like to purchase a Ring Protect Plan. A Ring Protect Plan is not necessary to view real-time notifications on your Ring cameras. Without the Ring Protect Plan, you can still use the live view and two-way audio features. You are still able to see who is at your door and answer motion notifications. In order to see past recorded videos from your ring device, you will need the optional Ring Protect Plan, which starts at $3/month per device or $30/year per device. Please see the following link for more information regarding the Ring Protect Plan and the benefits it offers: https://ring.com/protect-plans?undefined. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback/experiences with Ring. • QuestionDo you need Wi-Fi for this ?

    Asked by Bianca.

    • Answer Yes you definitely need WiFi. But.. ‘Ring’ will be on a different configuration than the rest of the products in your home. you also have to make sure your router is configured correctly. Your provider can do this remotely. ( you can do this) if you have several WiFi products in your home, Contact your WiFi provider ..Also. Be considerate of where you place ring. Visibility is limited.
