No, VCRs had this feature in the past to save tape. But digital recordings are files and Tivo locks the quality of the recording to the best possible resolution. However 1tb is alot especially if you watch and delete. I have about 50 recordings on my Tivo right now and its 33% full. HD 1080p TV shows use the most typically 2% per sporting 3 hour event like superbowl. If you like to use DVR as a file server to store shows long term it might fill up and I would recommend offloading the shows to external storage for long term. I read somewhere on Tivo forum I believe that its possible to swap out the 1tb for larger drives with the system formating the drive for you. But really I dont think you are going to fill it up just watching TV.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. The TiVo will record at the "exact same quality" as the TV Station that is broadcasting the tv show.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Change the setting to record only SD and itll give you more time. You can also change the setting to finish 1 minute later, 5, 30 and up to 2 hours after without changing the HD to SD.If you have a lot of shows recorded, suggest adding the external hard drive.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, you cannot adjust the recording speed for more time. When you create a One-Pass schedule you can pick HD or SD. SD recordings take a lot less space then HD. Most people find the 1 TB Tivos have very adequate recording space. Not supported by TIvo in any way (and probably voids the warranty), but you can easily pop the hard drive out on a Roamio and replace the drive with the commonly available 3 TB Western Digital Red 3.5" SATA drive for 3 times the recording space.
