I would recommend calling Tivo directly. Direct TV should provide a DVR option which may preclude the benefit/need of a Tivo box. After having constant increases with ATT/Direct TV we decided it better to get the ATT internet/Phone, Roku Device (29.00) and the TIVO unit for recording our selected movies, etc. Overall we save $80 per month, using this configuration over Direct TV..
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. TiVO OTA is for over the air television and will not work with cable or satellite.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.TiVo Romeo OTA cannot record from cable. A card available from the cable company must be plugged into a TiVo in order to work with cable. The Romeo OTA has no slot for such a card. Other TiVo models (e.g. Bolt) have a card slot for interacting with cable service providers.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If the central Direct TV system requires a cable card, the OTA Roamio will not work. On the other hand, if the channels are not scrambled, the issue would be the channel guide. I don't think Tivo offers a cable channel guide for Roamio (for their cable DVR's, Tivo charges a monthly fee for the channel guide). Your best bet would be to contact Tivo customer service and ask them. I talked to them several times before I bought my Roamio and they answered all my questions/concerns.
