I have an Apple TV that is plugged in directly to the TVs HDMI input. I also have a surround system connected to the TV using an optical cable. Any device plugged into the TV including my Apple TV will play through the surround sound. Hope this helps.

I have samsung receiver but probably similar. Hook cable from apple TV directly to your tv set noting imput number. Hook these optical audio cables from apple tv to surround sound optical audio input. Set receiver to accept sound through optical audio input. Picture should go directly to tv through the input number you selected and sound should go through receiver to your speakers.

I have an Apple TV 4th generation, and actually have my sound system hooked up directly to my TV. The Apple TV recognizes the sound system even though it is not hooked up directly to it.. I may have

this should work of your bose has opitcal in. plug apple tv hdmi to tv and apple tv optical out to bose optical input.

If both of those devices have a digital optical ports, you would just need to connect that cable to both of them. For further clarification on what might be required, you may want to speak with Bose or Apple.
