A:AnswerAt first I did the same thing. You have to connect all three. I used this kind of cable for all three. Directv box to the TV, TV to the sound bar.
A:AnswerThere are a couple of options that can be considered here. First thing you need to do is check to see what kind of audio connection your TV and sound bar has. If both have optical audio then the connection won't be difficult. But if the television has a coaxial audio cable then you've hit a snag. There is something you can buy on amazon to go from a coaxial input to an optical audio output. Another option would be connecting the optical audio cable from the sound bar to the digital cable box. I have a DVR time warner cable box and mine has an optical audio connection so I'm assuming that yours does as well. Hope this helps.
A:AnswerI had that issue initially until I realized that you have to pull off the clear rubber caps. I wish they provided instructions for those of us not used to working with optical cable.
A:AnswerI have a Spectrum cable box that does have a digital audio sound output. I am not using it. I use HDMI cable to the TV from the cable box for the picture and sound, and use the TV's digital audio out sound to my soundbar. That way anything playing on the TV (I also have a BluRay attached to the TV via HDMI) uses the soundbar. The TV has to be set to output the sound to the digital audio sound output to get the soundbar to work.
A:Answeryou can use any of the audio outputs on your cable box i.e. secondary hdmi output, composite output or optical output to the compatible imput on bose

A:AnswerI have an Apple TV that is plugged in directly to the TVs HDMI input. I also have a surround system connected to the TV using an optical cable. Any device plugged into the TV including my Apple TV will play through the surround sound. Hope this helps.
A:AnswerYep! That's what happens. I spent a LOT making everything compatible. Just what you have to do sometimes. That said, the quality of today's component pieces seems to be better and is worth the upgrades.
