Yes there is a button on the handle that lets you easily switch between thick carpet, carpet/low pile, and hardwood floors. Selecting the hardwood floor turns the brush off.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, the switch is right on the handle, no brush, high(normal), and less suction.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you can cut off the brush by pushing the selector down to floor. The brush rotates on the two carpet settings but does not rotate on the floor settings.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Moving the handle switch to "Hard Floor" disables the beater brush, but maintains same suction power. Moving same switch to "Thick Carpet/Area Rug" reduces suction power but leaves beater brush running...pick your poison! Height of vacuum from floor remains same, no matter what. There is no additional manual method for reducing suction, however, so the "area rug" selection would be used for accessories if reduction is needed (beater brush turns off when handle is stowed upright).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, the brush engages automatically, there is no way to turn it off while vacuuming.
