Not at all required, have not downloaded the app and have been using this washer with ease for more than a month now.

No, connecting the washer to the Samsung Laundry app (also known as Smart Care) is optional. You can use the washer manually.

However, we recommend using the Samsung Landry app to utilize most of the product's features if possible. The washer's Smart Care feature recognizes an information code on the display and provides extensive information and recommended solutions.
