Small vs large load settings? I was washing a load last weekend and the drum had a lot of room left, I realized I could put a larger load in this than my last washer. Is there a setting for small vs large loads so that it puts in less water when doing a smaller load? I am not sure if it just automatically adjusts based on the weight of the clothces inside or if it is an actual setting.

The reason the machine rolls the drum around a few times before it starts to add water is because it's weighing the clothes. It fills based on the weight.,

It seems to have a built-in scale. Because when I had lighter loads, the cycle time dramatically decreased compared to larger loads.

If you watch, the washing machine should spend the first minute or so after you hit the "play" button running calibration spins, to determine how much laundry is in there. This is more accurate than "small" vs "large" manual settings, because while there may only be a few items in the machine, things of heavier weight, such as jeans and towels, usually take more "effort" to wash. Same thing the other way around with a "large" load of lightweight things, like a set of sheets. After the calibration is complete, the machine judges the amount of resources (water, soap, etc) that it will need and adjusts the wash time accordingly.

The WF42H5200AP and other Samsung HE Washers do have an automatic weight sensing feature so the Washer fills with only what's needed to do the job. From my experience, it automatically adjust depending on the load you put in there, I would just recommend you use the cycles accordintly like if its comforters or bedding use the bedding cycle and that has worked for me and on the quick wash it uses very little water just enough to wash what needs to be washed and since this is a HE washer it don't need to have a lot of water with detergent to the job. I just use a tablespoon of HE detergent and also fabric softener and clothes come out smelling fresh. I hope this helps.
