Pick a load type that allows the deep wash mode. Not all wash modes allow deep wash (more water) like permanent press or heavy. Normal wash mode does not allow deep fill. Also it sounds like you are putting too many clothes in for new washers. This will wear out the washer and your clothes. The EPA changed how much water is allowed in each load. So if you are comparing the water level and how many clothes you used to be able to wash. It will not be the same. You end up having to do twice as many loads thanks to the EPA. Hope this helps.
