Is there ambient heat in the room when the oven is in use? I have heard that some models cause the kitchen to become as hot as an oven while baking a cake!

It isn't unusual for some heat to escape the oven when in use since ovens aren't designed to be airtight. Heat escapes through the vent under the right side of the control panel back splash as well as through the door when it's opened to check on cooking progress. It's worth noting that Samsung uses 4 panes of glass in the oven doors to help insulate the interior and prevent the door from becoming excessively hot to the touch. Of course there will be heat coming from the oven but it is not that bad. No, my kitchen did not become as hot as the oven while we roasted the turkey for hours last thanksgiving.

While the oven does get warm it does not get as warm as our previous oven you won't make a mistake purchasing this oven.
