• the smart hub allows for apps like Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc. to sign in directly from your tv. you can also cast from phones and tablets directly to your tv via your wifi.

• I believe the "smart hub" is just SAMSUNGS version of say, google playstore. Has all your apps there, and offers other apps for downloading.
