I read many reviews on Best Buy website as well as on other web sites as I was confused between Samsung and Sony 4KHD TV s. However, after two hours of demo on Sony 830C and Samsung JS7000, I decided to go with Samsung. It was really a good decision. The picture and sound quality is really good. It is very easy as well as fast to mirror my cellphone/laptop onto my tv. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because there are limited number of applications that I can use or download on the TV. However, I do have access to all the important apps that are frequently used. As TVs are becoming more and more like phones, I hope more apps will be made available soon.

It was very easy to have bought another TV for 999.99 on black Friday but after standing in the store for 30 minutes at midnight, this TV stood out, picture quality 10/10, picture speed 10/10 just make sure you have a stand wide enough for the legs. Have zero regrets.

Bought this Samsung - 55" - LED - 2160p - Smart - 4K Ultra HD TV in 2015. It is really smart, senses the output source, and picture quality is much superior than later models.

I was talked into this tv on Christmas Eve after being told all of the other Samsung led tv's I had been interested In were not available, the price for size in this set seemed pretty well and the 24mths no interest really helped seal the deal of course. But I honestly wish I would of read reviews and done more research before buying this tv.
First off the whole 4K thing is very limited as far as content right now so don't expect to go home and watch the crazy colors and lifelike butterflies to be there. Next HUGE issue is the backlighting, dark scenes have a bad "flash lighting" effect from the corners and bottom. Seems to be a big issue with other reviews also.

Was having a hard time choosing my 4K t.v. finally chose this beauty. Gaming is fantastic. Movies are breath taking. With 3D blu-ray, just unbeatable. The price was higher than others. But you really see where the money went. Speakers are ok. But with surround sound it is perfection. And the sales people at best buy really help me sort out what product I really wanted. The smart tv browser system on this modem is so smooth and easy to use right outa the box. Honestly this is what a movie lover and a gamer needs to be completly fulfilled.

Samsung never disappoints with their TVs. I would a little disappointed that it doesn't have the HD cable port that allows you to connect audio and video through it.

After 6 years with a 37in LCD (pre-LED) TV, I decided the time and pricing was right to jump to 4K. After researching the options, I concluded that the Samsung sets were among the best, and that getting into the SUHD line was worth a couple hundred more for quality over the bottom end models. I might have liked to see some higher options, like higher refresh rate (this one is 60Hz, the 120 Motion Rate is an enhancement), without tacking on curved or 3D that the next models up have, but this set provided plenty for the price.
The picture was an astounding upgrade from my old set, with the 4K resolution preserving the picture definition through the size jump. I recommend 4K for anything above 50in when you're sitting relatively close (I sit at 8ft, but the picture still looks good at 2ft). The upscaler is good on this set, making even 720p and 1080p content look better than before. True 4K content, although limited, looks spectacular (I've sampled a few things through my computer). I am also an avid gamer, and my games have never looked better, particularly cartoony games with their bold colors and sharp lines. This TV really brings out the color when the image demands it while still providing great clarity in the less bold, real world images (although I watched some great, colorful flower/rain forest content that looked stunning).
As with all LCD sets, viewing angle should be considered. My room has about a 90° seating spread (45° each side from center) and I don't notice a degradation in quality throughout that range. Getting to roughly 60° off center gives some noticeable dulling in the image. I think this should provide a good viewing range for most setups. My research also said that the 55" model panel differs from the 50" and 60" models. Something about said panel provides better viewing angle at a slightly reduced motion performance or something. I cannot verify this, but I can say that my room would not have worked with the other sizes if this was true.
One thing my research led me to was the ability to calibrate the set, which I suggest you do. You can spend decent money having it done professionally (I sometimes consider that), but recommended settings can be found online. I generally used the settings shown on http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/js7000/settings with some personal adjustments to back light (for my room) and sharpness (only up to 20). I also kept on the standard motion rate to smooth out some of the motion while gaming. As the article mentions, Movie mode gets you most of the way there. The difference between modes is very obvious, and the improvement from movie mode is subtle, but worthwhile. I use this setting for everything, not employing Game or Sports mode as they have their own set of locked settings that I just don't like as much. Game mode is also buried very deep in the menu, so I honestly haven't tried it enough. Sports mode is right on the remote, and I do not like how much brightens and blues things in the name of "enhancement." For my watching experience, these calibrated settings are great all around, and I do suggest taking the time to go through the settings and find the right picture for yourself.
I don't use the smart functionality much since i have many other means with easier interfaces, but I tried out YouTube and Vudu and both worked well. Predictive typing makes even remote use fairly convenient, and I believe you can connect a keyboard (possibly mouse) for easy interaction. The available apps appear plenty, but I cannot give a full opinion since attaching a computer trumps them all. I can say that this works well as a large computer screen for presenting to the larger room, or playing games on the couch.
In conclusion, I would recommend this TV as a great budget set for getting into 4K. Cheaper brands and models sacrifice the quality that can be found here. If it's not noticeable to you, then why spend the money, right? However, it may be more obvious as 4K content becomes more regular. That said, it's not the best set out there, but it is quite a set before you start making large price jumps. You're also not paying for 3D or a curved form, which really are proving to simply be marketing gimmicks.
I hope this review has been helpful. Always do your research, and happy shopping.

After 3 days, vertical line artifact began to appear on the screen. I returned the TV because Bestbuy didn't have another one in stock.
If this TV didn't have artifact, I would rate it 5 stars because the picture quality is so realistic, the color quality is amazing! the sound is clear and decent.

Sony vs Samsung (I went with Samsung)

First let me star by saying that no matter how much research you do it will never going to be accurate, or fill the need for you to be sure about what to buy unless you try it out your self, so thats what i did.
I went to the store about 5 time to look a this tv next to others.
I was debating between this and Sony XBR55X850C, i even annoyed a manager so he can le me try the same demo on the sony and the samsung .Now this is where it gets tricky, i was looking at the 60" sony because that's what they had working at the time that i went to the store and the sony looked a tat better so i bought the sony 55" inch tough. I got home and soon enough i realize that i made a mistake, the picture was not bright the colors did not pop and viewing angle was bad and the tv ran so hot that if you put your finger on the bottom of the bezel it will actually burn you.I could not understand, in the store it looked so beautiful in the store and was so different at home.
So i called sony and got some details, the 60" and larger version of this are Full Array LED with Local Dimming and the 55" is a Edge Lid LED.
That was the difference and why the picture looked like that compare to the one in the store.
So i looked this samsung up and looked a reviews and it did not have great reviews they where about 6 or 7 out of 10. I went against all that, i got the tv to try it my self.
The TV is beautiful the colors pop the blacks are black the viewing angels are great and it is just a world of difference i tell you is the best bang for the buck out there. The 4K upscaling on this to me it looked better than the Sony, i know sony is been doing it longer at the movie theaters and i was told that sony upscaling was better but, again to me samsung looked better thats my opinion and my experience.
I went to the
Best Buy #344 Fashion Center, 17 W Ridgewood Ave, Paramus, NJ 07652. I had the best help there, BLAKE VAN CUREN a magnolia associate was so patient and understanding and willing to work with me and gave me a great deal on a open box that i just have to give him a shout out if you need help please ask for him he will go above and beyond to help you. I hope this help anyone trying to make a choice, go Samsung

Well this tv as it was set up in the store looked spectacular! Color, size, n features were a great selling point. However, once we got it home, it just appeared like a bigger fancier version of our old tv. A positive was the set-up was super easy!! We noticed some dots on the screen that required a service call a week after install. The service call yieled a need to have the screen replaced- and now we don't have any complaints. Love the smart features! Overall, after playing with the settings, the picture does look better than our old 1. The longer we have it, the more compliments we get and the more satisfied we are with our purchase.

Bought this TV without having done much research. I was excited about a 4k TV, and for the price I got it at during Thanksgiving, I went for it. I got it all set up and it looked real great! After a few days, I was standing there and noticed a vertical "seam" or "streak" just off center to the left. As I started looking at it closer I noticed another one closer to the right side. I have no idea what it was - it didn't seem to affect the TV's color or pixels or anything... but it was just barely visible enough to be distracting, the same way that a glare is distracting. As I did some research on these "seams" (which I never found anything out) I started realizing what technology really comes in to play with these new 4k TVs. Here is what I learned - MotionRate 120 actually means 60Hz refresh rate panel, this TV only has 8-bit color palette and therefore can't display as many colors as a 10-bit panel, because of the 60Hz panel you will get the 2:3 pulldown judder in your movies, also the slower refresh rate will propose a little bit more motion blur compared to that of a native 120Hz panel. One last thing, I like to have my TVs connected directly to the router via cable, not use wifi - but my wifi gave me better 4k streaming reliability than the hard wired network, this was a bit disturbing to me.
Conclusion: I would recommend this TV to regular, common, non-techy geeky folks, that are looking for an average to good 4k television. It does work well and has a fine picture for those casual television/movie watchers if you can get it for the right price. However, if you are a very casual television/movie watcher - I'd actually probably say, don't go with a 4k TV, save yourself a few hundred dollars and just get yourself a nice 1080p HDTV. But, if you're curious about the 4k and want to do a little future proofing, this isn't too bad of a choice.
Now, if you're a bigger movie buff and more into all the whistles and bells that a nice 4k TV can provide for you, I'd suggest taking a look at the JS8500.
