I know this sounds dumb to say, but just to be sure.... Make sure the device is on when you check for it. On whatever FW I'm on at least, it doesn't see the device unless it's already on.

You will also need to run an audio pair from the DVD player colored red/white to the audio inputs red/white on the TV (or use a SPDIF cable) Component inputs are selected using the "source" button on the remote.
