In the store the 8000 will appear brighter but it's due to the 9000s ECO feature dimming and Samsung applied a tint to the screen to reduce reflection, you can see it when the unit is powered off. Otherwise it's a great tv with similar features of QLEDs just not as bright.

The picture is great and HD shows seem to have added sharpness that I didn't see on my older 46" 1080 set. The only weak point of the TV is the stand that comes with it. It isn't very stable but not to the point that it will not hold the TV. It just wobbles a little. I would recommend that if purchased the buyer consider mounting it to the wall. I would recommend that the manufacturer look at a 2 point of contact stand for this TV as they have on their model UN58MU6100FXZA. Again, if you purchase this model TV you will not be disappointed in its image quality. The only other tough decision you might have is the 65" or 75".
