Hi ChrisM, No, with proper maintenance, the washer will stay clean and smell fresh. You can also set up the washer and dryer side-by-side for easier access. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Clothes do sour fast if you leave them in the washer. Also I leave the washer door open to air out once I am finished doing laundry. We live in Fl with a bunch of humidity but closing anything up that is still damp and dark is a bad idea. If you use a fan for any of the clothes you can’t dry just turn it on and leave the door of the washer open. I would say the good outweighs the bad for this washer.
