• It should be operating system independent. It looks like any other hard drive to Win 7 / Win 10 so you shouldn't lose your free upgrade rights. THe upgrade software checks your CPU id, not your hard drive id.

• Yes it's compatible with windows 7, 8, 10. No, I don't believe that option is still available, it ended I'd say about a year ago.

• You can put any version of windows OS on an SSD. You will need to have the iso files on a usb stick or purchase a windows OS.
