This SSD actually outperformed my expectations. I got it while they were down in price a little. I was heavily considering getting an m.2 960 Evo SSD instead of the 860 Evo thinking that the M.2 would be much better. But man, this SSD even outperforms my Hp Spectre M.2 SSD. It's light, it's sleek, and it's solid. You won't go wrong with this SSD. Just make sure you have power and SATA cables as it doesn't include them. My only "quirk" is I wish I spent the extra money to get the 500GB / 1TB. Although I only use this as my boot drive, i'm filling it up with programs like Illustrator and Photoshop so they run faster. I'd suggest getting a bigger size than the 250GB.

Had a very slow 10 year old Toshiba laptop. Replaced hard drive with Samsung drive and the computer is super speedy! Operates like new!! Very happy of the Geek Squad’s recommendation.

Mechanical hard disk drives are on their last leg if you are interested in speed and reliability. This unit is big enough for most applications and is from the leader in this technology. I now have new life in my older laptop. Faster booting and program loading, silent operation and much lower power needed. Also, everything on the Internet seems to work much faster.

Hardware setup is a piece of cake - plug it into a USB port and it's ready to go. Then tell the software to copy your hard drive onto it and leave it alone for a couple of hours. Unfortunately, at the end of the two hours, the software came up and said to couldn't find a file which I could find using Windows explorer. There didn't seem to be any way to tell the software where the file was and Samsung's support wan't much help. So I downloaded Macrium's cloning software from the web and, after a couple of hours, it was done successfully. It was then a simple job of taking the bottom off the laptop, swapping a couple of plugs and putting it back together - voila: one laptop running like new. It's been over a month and no glitches have shown up. I do hope they fix the software, though or give a better error message as having what seems an incorrect error message after a 2 hour wait is really annoying. Five stars for the drive, 3 for the software and Samsung's support.

Without a hesitating Samsung 860 EVO will give you Top performance, quality and endurance at an very affordable price, This is the best upgrade you could do to any computer not using SSD, little power comsumption, minimum heat generation and great speed gain, comparing it to Hard disk drive and others low end SSD drives, i love it I also recommend to get an Apricorn Satawire available at Bestbuy for an easy cloning or data migration.

Jesus I love SSDs. They're God's gift to the power user, but honestly anyone on any level would benefit. Load times and workflow are near instantaneous. Fantastic IO throughput if you're a raw numbers kinda person, and they last for a very, very long time. While not massive in capacity, because of the sheer speed you likely won't care. Use your ancient spinning magnetic brick for archival purposes and this one for everything else!

Bought a PC that only came with a stock HDD so I put this thing in right off the bat. Regardless of what chassis you're putting it in it's probably going to be pretty easy. I'm not super savvy and it took me less than 10 minutes. You may need some zip ties or velcro tape. I wouldn't run any machine without a SSD and this thing does what it's supposed to. Boots up and opens programs fast.

As a 45-year IT pro, you will find no better solid state drive (SSD) than Samsung. Some other drives are faster, other drives last a little longer, but no SSD has the speed / reliability of a Samsung SSD. We have over 1,000 Samsung SSDs in the wild (in servers, desktops and lappys), running 24/7/366 with ZERO failures. We have driven these drives past the 32TB write-cycle recommendation, with ZERO failures or defects. btw: the average user puts on about 2-5TB of write-cycles in a year. We use about 16TB cycles a year. We swap out drives every year, just because we can. An average user should be able get 3-10 years of usage, not no promises :) The best SSD on the market. Period. PS: Contrary to popular Internet myth, SSD drives do NOT last forever. However, they are faster (no moving parts), deal better with heat and vibration.

It was super easy to install in my PC. It took under 15 minutes to get set up and working as my boot drive. Now my PC boots in under 30 seconds, and programs open and run much faster and smoother. Great buy for someone looking to add some performance to their PC at a low cost.

Easy to install and most important, this drive is very fast. Made my customer's 8 year old Dell i7 last another few more years. If you can, replace your hard drives with SSD drives and Samsung is highly recommended.

Purchased for my sons computer - it installed without any problems and works perfectly. Computer boots up faster. This is a cheap SSD with 250GB hard drive, but also dependable product. Samsung has created a great product for a decent price

Very easy to install. I have two SSD’s setup as a RAID zero and it has made my computer very fast for an affordable price. I have built four PC’s for friends using these SSD for running the OS on. These SSD’s use very little power and they stay cool even when they are being accessed for long file transfers. I’m very impressed on the reliability of these drives too. I’ve had another brand SSD and had many problems with reliability. These SSD’s give me a feeling of relief when my important files are on them. I will definitely buy these SSD’s again and I recommend them to everyone. You can’t go wrong with a super warranty too. But honestly, I don’t think the warranty will ever be used for these drives are that good. I have purchased ten SSD’s for all my builds and not one has had any problems. These drives are a home run.

Just installed this in a friend’s computer and breathed new life into it. It’s amazing what replacing a traditional Hard Drive with an SSD can do for your machine and the Evo 850 is a great one all around. Fast, reliable and a good price.

I have installed over 25 of these this year and all of them are working great. I am posting almost the same review as the 1TB and 500GB which I have installed a bunch of also. The best part about these drives is you can download the Samsung management software and data migration software. The management software checks the drive for updates and performance issues and with the data migration software you can clone your existing hard drive and the just swap out the old for the new SSD and it is like you have a new computer (with the speed upgrade)
