- I DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT APPLE PRODUCTS - With that said, if you can use any other 2.5" internal HDD such as WD, Seagate, etc. There's no real reason you cant use this HDD. Its a blank HD with no software making it proprietary to Windows. Should be able to format and install Mac Os no prob. This drive is fast and warranty is great. I own 2 of them installed in Windows systems.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it should work on a 2009 MacBook. These drives are universal in that when you put it into your MacBook, you'll be formatting (wiping the drive and installing the file system) it to Apple's standards - usually APFS (Apple File System). This will make it work with your MacBook. Internal Hard Drives (like this SSD), do not come pre-formatted and even if they did you can always re-format it to the computer you are using. All this said, you do want to look up guide's on how to upgrade your computer to a new SSD as it can be quite complicated. You'll want to either Clone your current MacBook operating system onto the SSD (by getting a mSATA to USB enclosure or adapter [see my recommended products - the two adapter cables use USB-C which most older models do not have, so you'll want to find one that is regular USB] - this connects to your new SSD which then you plug into your MacBook and literally copy everything over to your new SSD) or if you are upgrading to this SSD because your old Hard Drive failed, you'll have to use another computer to create a USB Stick (Flash Drive) that when you plug it into your computer has all of the information needed to install a fresh copy of MacOS. You can also look this up online and find a guide on how to do it. If you do the second route, you'll just install the SSD into your MacBook and then insert the USB. The USB will guide you through installing MacOS onto your new SSD. Either way, make sure you look up guides online for how to do what you want. If it's all above your head (and no worries if it is, this stuff can be very tricky even when you do everything EXACTLY as described in a guide), you can and should go to Best Buy's Geek Squad and have them install the drive for you. I have 24/7 Tech Support with Geek Squad so it was no cost to me, but even if you don't have their Tech Support, you can pay a small fee and they will do everything for you and you know that it will for SURE work. Anyway, good luck and this drive is definitely worth it!
