I have a microwave with a fan/vent above mine it is 22 inches and have had no safety issues yet. I think 30 inches is way too unrealistic as a fan/vent would pull more clean air before smoke and steam from cooking food.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had a microwave installed around 24” above my old crap LG and it would let out the overheating alarm whenever we cooked. And the surface of the microwave above the burners would get really hot. It never caught on fire but the fact that the over temp alarms went off on the microwave I was not happy with this set up and decided to go with just a range hood on my remodel. Even then, the max I could go up is 27”-29” because of the vent in the wall. So hopefully it’s not a problem again with this higher btu burner
