However, if you are only visiting, it maybe better to use an app Whats App to communicate to both US & BDS for free. They are very popular in BDS. Use WIFI wherever you can. I didn't check out mobile plans there. However, if buying just for traveling, it might be better to buy a cheap old fashioned flip phone that is small, easy to carry in your pocket, and not a big issue if lost. Which is what I plan to do the next time I am travelling. Note: To my knowledge there is no WIFI at BDS airport! Very important if you plan to call a cab on WIFI! Other cell planes such as A.. T have calling plans that mostly only benefit calling from US to BDS, not from BDS to BDS, or BDS to US.
