Yes. I get my Google Now notifications, so things like weather and the sports scores I have set up. You can select which app notifications it sends. But all you get is the notification, you have to go to your phone to respond or do something with the notification. Example: It sends my Hangout SMS notifications. I can read the message but can't respond to it. If you use the Samsung SMS app, you can reply using S Voice or a canned response.

I turned off my email notifications because I was getting too many.)
