No.. you there are 2 version. One regular and 3G. The different 3G allows you to make and receive calls.. but everything else is the same

This watch uses Bluetooth to pair up to your phone so no extra phone number is required.

I was able to operate my watch with a BLU Android phone and I currently use it with the old Samsung Galaxy 4s. The watch can be synced to work with most phones running Android (watch indicates a certain update), but it works best with Samsung devices. The phone and text features will only work with a synced device that has an active number, but just internet options will work without a phone number. I hope this helps some as I have only had for less than a month
