• You don't need to pay for a plan to get open door alerts. Will send you a text for any contact sensors install.

• There is an option for a monthly monitoring plan - it isn’t required but it’s available. As for notifications when doors open —YES - as long as you have a sensor that works with SmartThings.

• It doesnt require a monitoring subscription. I havent used it enough to kn know if text messages can be sent.

• No there is no additional plan required. With a door contact sensor, you can send an alert to a phone via SMS.
