• A:Answer I bought this because i got a schlage door lock, i only had to go to SAMSUNG SMART THINGS APP and add the hub and the lock to my device list. So i belive that whatever device you get that is compatible with smart things, you wont need additional apps, just go in and add device, you should be able to find it, if in fact compatible. • A:Answer Not really. Both are hubs, but smartthings doesn't operate on outside frequencies (outside of 2.4 G& 5G) that I'm aware of anyway meaning it doesn't use your in-home WiFi signal. So they both generally do the same thing, but Insteon has a little edge over smartthings hubs and won't add to the already clustered wfi signal traffic in the home and run clean off if its own separate wave.
