Not really. Both are hubs, but smartthings doesn't operate on outside frequencies (outside of 2.4 G& 5G) that I'm aware of anyway meaning it doesn't use your in-home WiFi signal. So they both generally do the same thing, but Insteon has a little edge over smartthings hubs and won't add to the already clustered wfi signal traffic in the home and run clean off if its own separate wave.
