Yes it can but, it will need the Samsung Smart Thing Hub. The SmartThings Site says it can connect about 200 devices.

Yes, you can set something like this up with IFTTT. As far as how many sensors you can put in, there are many smarttthings users that have 100+ devices connected.

Yes you can set it up that way. Even set it up to hear a knock on door

Yes they do via the IFTTT.com. Up 250 sensors per Smarthings hub.

Smartthings supports up to 250 devices. Yes you can have it send you text on the temp in your home when using IFTTT.com. IFTTT is the best way to maximize your investment in IOT (Internet of Things) as long as you don't need real time notifications as you can have short delay when using cloud service enablement.
