I have a few these already so I knew what to expect. It paired easily with the smartthings base according to the directions. I installed this one on my garage door. I had to make a bracket to mount the sensor but it works great. Tells me when the garage was opened, closed and gives me a temp reading in the garage. Works as advertised. After a couple months installed the battery is still in the 90%. I have had other smartthings sensors for about 6 months and have not had to replace a battery yet.

Purchased devices to monitor heat and water issues for a rental property in a distant location from home. So far, very satisfied!

Go this on sale for <$20 at Best Buy. I intended to use this in my basement windows so i know if I accidentally left the windows open at night or when i'm gone. Set up was easy when i had the sensors near my smartthings. However, upon in stalling, the sensors would sometimes lose connections. When connected, it took a long time for the app to provide notice that the sensor was opened, or i had to manually refresh the smartthings app. Could be that sensor is too far away. Nice that it has temperature sensing. Will continue looking for a more accurate sensor w/ better connections and real time notifications. mabye a true z-wave sensor that talks to other neighboring sensors in a mesh network.

Needed an additional sensor for my home and bought this for 50%. Added to my existing system and got it up and running in a few minutes. Works really great as I can now get notified when someone opens my door.

I've been with the Smartthings line for almost two years. This is my fourth sensor and this is my fairly long-term review.
The battery life on these sensors for me averages about 8 months. I have one which pretty much gets no open/close or vibration activity, This one lasts the same as a door which I open multiple times a day.
I didn't even need another sensor, but I bought it because it was on sale. Every time I replace a battery, I worry about the little plastic clip breaking. So, this sensor is a backup for WHEN the first one breaks. The only other thing is they are picky about batteries. Energizers are common, but you may have to tweak the sensor for it to work.

The key word is "Multipurpose". There are so many options on what you can do with this thing! Very happy with purchase. As a suggestion, when setting these up, remove the plastic cover and pull the battery out and remove the plastic strip that separates the battery from the contact versus pulling on the plastic tab end. On each of mine this left a small piece of plastic that caused it to go offline randomly until I pulled the battery out and found the small piece of plastic.

These work great on my garage doors. I use them as tilt sensor on the garage door so I don't need the 2nd magnetic piece for that application and that simplifies installation. I tried the same setup for my mailbox door and it was unreliable for that application, did not have enough range despite adding a repeater, possibly the sheet metal of the mailbox was too much for it too. I tried several others sensors on the mailbox and they all had similar issue. I recently got a NYCE tilt sensor and that did work in the mailbox.

These are great little devices. I love the fact that not only dobthey let you know when a window or door is open, but they also tell you what the temperature is around that device. Now I know I need to check the seals around my back door to help with my electric and gas bills. My only complaimts are the app doesnt seem to warn you when a devices battery is low, it just dies all of a sudden. Also, i wish i could set a different sound on my phone for an alert from this app (like an actual alarm noise), though it is possible you can and i jjst havent figured it out yet..

I’m new to ST, so my frame of reference is limited. Without having tried any other brands of sensor, I would still qualify my experience with these as extremely positive. They are extremely easy to initiate, the mounting hardware is simple, and I have not had any issues with their use. The only reason I don’t give 5 stars is I wish they had a tiny bit more of an allowable gap between the contacts. I have a fence gate that I was hoping to monitor, but the gap created by the gate opening is just too wide for use with these sensors. Otherwise, they work perfectly.

We purchased the SmartThings Hub security system for our home. I installed everything myself and it was very easy. The only downside is that it's very sensitive and if the contact isn't flush/on the same level/ as the pairing piece then it registers as the contact being open even if the window or door is shut. I had to buy thicker Velcro pieces to make it level with each other, the ones provided didn't do the trick.

I owned several of these Samsung Smartthings multi. They are easy to install and setup, reliable, and packed with sensors like temperature, acceleration, open close and vibration sensors. I've been using these sensors for a few years and I've had one failed out of 15 that I own. The one that failed was a few years old and it was version 1 of this sensor so I am not worried about it.

I started out by buying one of these sensors on sale, and ended up going back and buying two more!
I am using these with a Wink 2 hub, not a Samsung hub. I paired three sensors with my hub in less than five minutes. Using the Wink Lookout app, I get push notifications on my phone every time one of these sensors detects a door or window opening or closing. These sensors will also report temperature so they could be used to remotely monitor temperature anywhere in your home.

So far, so good. I've got one on every door in the house, including the garage door. Set-up was easy. They are perfectly reliable. Fairly small and unassuming so they don't wreck the decor. A Smartthings hub is required. It does open/closed, temperature, and has an accelerometer which senses vibration. Highly recommended.

Purchased this sensor to use as an open/close sensor and it works perfectly for that purpose. Installation was simple, sensor itself isn't too big, was easy to pair with the ST hub and best of all it responds quickly and accurately. Being able to see current temperature and battery life are nice features.
